This paper proposes a framework for developing a trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) supported knowledge management system (KMS) by integrating existing approaches to trustworthy AI, trust in data, and trust in organisations. We argue that improvement in three core dimensions (data governance, validation of evidence, and reciprocal obligation to act) will lead to the development of trust in the three domains of the data, the AI technology, and the organisation. The framework was informed by a case study implementing the Access-Risk-Knowledge (ARK) platform for mindful risk governance across three collaborating healthcare organisations. Subsequently, the framework was applied within each organisation with the aim of measuring trust to this point and generating objectives for future ARK platform development. The resulting discussion of ARK and the framework has implications for the development of KMSs, the development of trustworthy AI, and the management of risk and change in complex socio-technical systems.

By interlinking internal Linked Data (LD) entities to related LD entities published by authoritative creators and holders of data, libraries have the potential to expose their collections to a larger audience and to allow for richer user searches. While increasing numbers libraries are devoting time to publishing LD, the full potential of these datasets has not been explored due to limited LD interlinking. In 2018 we conducted a survey which explored the position of Information Professionals (IPs), such as librarians, archivists and cataloguers, with regards to LD. Results indicated that IPs find the process of data interlinking to be a particularly challenging step in the creation of Five Star LD. Consequently, we developed NAISC, an interlinking approach designed specifically for the library domain aimed at facilitating increased IP engagement in the LD interlinking process. Our paper provides an overview of the design and user-evaluation of NAISC. Results indicated that IPs found NAISC easy-to-use and useful for creating LD interlinks.

The aim of this study was to explore the benefits and challenges to using Linked Data (LD) in Libraries, Archives and Museums (LAMs) as perceived by Information Professionals (IPs). The study also aimed to gain an insight into potential solutions for overcoming these challenges. Data was collected via a questionnaire which was completed by 185 Information Professionals (IPs) from a range of LAM institutions. Results indicated that IPs find the process of integrating and interlinking LD datasets particularly challenging, and that current LD tooling does not meet their needs. The study showed that LD tools designed with the workflows and expertise of IPs in mind could help overcome these challenges.

Despite these benefits, there are many barriers to libraries fully participating in the Semantic Web. Increasing numbers of libraries are devoting valuable time and resources to publishing RDF datasets, yet little meaningful use is being made of them due to lack of interlinking. The goal of this research is to explore the barriers faced by librarians in participating in the Semantic Web with a particular focus on the process of interlinking. We will also explore how interlinking could be made more engaging for this domain.

This paper presents the Trusted Integrated Knowledge Dataspace (TIKD), a new dataspace, based on linked data technologies and trusted data sharing, that supports integrated knowledge graphs for sensitive application environments such as healthcare. State-of-the-art shared dataspaces do not consider sensitive data and privacy-aware log records as part of their solutions, defining only how to access data. TIKD complements dataspace security approaches through trusted data sharing that considers personal data handling, data privileges, pseudonymization of user activity logging, and privacy-aware data interlinking services. TIKD was implemented on the Access Risk Knowledge (ARK) Platform, a socio-technical risk governance system, and deployed as part of the ARK-Virus Project which aims to govern the risk management of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) across a group of collaborating healthcare institutions. The ARK Platform was evaluated, both before and after implementing the TIKD, using the ISO 27001 Gap Analysis Tool (GAT) which determines compliance with the information security standard. The results of the evaluation indicated that compliance with ISO 27001 increased from 50% to 85%. The evaluation also provided a set of recommended actions to meet the remaining requirements of the ISO 27001 standard. TIKD provides a collaborative environment, based on knowledge graph integration and GDPR-compliant personal data handling, as part of the data security infrastructure. As a result of this work, a new trusted data security methodology, based on personal data handling, data privileges, access control context specification, and privacy-aware data interlinking, was developed using a knowledge graph approach.
